Board Officers

President, Carol Asher has an extensive background in professional marketing and development for nonprofit organizations.  She is most well known for her proven record of accomplishment and specialty of converting nonprofit charities into productive and accountable business operations.  Her experience includes raising millions of dollars for organizations that improve the quality of life and economic climate for communities.  Asher most recently directed 504connect, an initiative of 504ward to retain the influx of young professionals who are in New Orleans with dual aspirations of sparking social change and advancing their careers.

Vice President, Mary Brown has served as an executive in the health care industry of New Orleans for approximately 30 years.  Mary had such roles as Hospital Director for the Ochsner Foundation Hospital and Vice President for the Health Science Systems at Tulane University.

Secretary, Sharon Courtney brings a wealth of knowledge of our local, state and federal governments to our board.  Presently serving as the Vice President for the Office of Government Affairs at Tulane University, Sharon is responsible for the overall management and development of strategies to inform and influence public policy at the city, state and federal levels.

Treasurer, Donald Herry C.P.A. was the founding business manager of KIPP: New Orleans. Donald has over 20 years of experience in managing finances for nonprofit and for-profit corporations.  Presently Donald is the Chief Financial Officer of Hotel Management of New Orleans, LLC.


Board Members

Kathy Conklin is a member of the New Orleans law firm McGlinchey Stafford PLLC., where her focus is employee benefits. She assists plan sponsors with IRS code, retirement income, and HIPAA. Ms. Conklin has also drafted medical benefits plans, cafeteria plans, dependent care plans and occupational injury plans. She assists clients in complying with Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Older Workers Benefits Protection Act, and immigration laws. Ms. Conklin graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University and summa cum laude from Louisiana State University.

Lisa Daggs recently worked for New School for New Orleans (NSNO) as their Development Director.  Before NSNO, Lisa worked for the KIPP national foundation supervising its leadership training program at Stanford University.  Before her tenure with the KIPP foundation Lisa worked with the New Schools Venture Fund nonprofit, a national philanthropy organization dedicated to improving public education.

Jim Dukes served students of New Orleans and the surrounding areas as a teacher and Distinguished Educator for over 30 years.  Presently serving as an Educational Consultant with schools throughout Louisiana, Jim will bring a strong knowledge of What Works in schools to ReNEW.

Marten Feibelman attended the New Orleans Public School (NOPS) from PK through 12th grades.  Presently he works as a real estate agent with Coldwell Bankers and has had experience within the insurance industry.  Marten wants to give back and influence the future of education in New Orleans by joining the ReNEW Board of Directors.

Greggory Harris is a financial advisor for Morgan Keegan and Company, Inc., where he manages retirement plans, fixed income portfolios, and asset allocation. Mr. Harris graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration. He participated in the Study Abroad Program and several academic honor societies.

Brandon Key is the vice president of corporate finance at Capital One Southcoast. He has held a variety of leadership positions including vice president of operations and engineering manager at Kencoil Inc., systems analyst at Science Applications International Corp., and software systems engineer at Lockheed Martin Corporation. Mr. Key is a graduate of Tulane University, Vanderbilt University, and the University of New Orleans Innsbruck, Australia.

Amy Knower has over 10 years of combined experience in architecture, project management, and construction management. At Oschner Health System she serves as the Project Manager for the Western Region, and has assisted in master planning following Hurricane Katrina, Redefining Women’s Services, Human Resources Consolidation, and Expansion of Baton Rouge Clinical Services.  Ms. Knower graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Architecture. She was the vice president of the College of Design and participated in the study abroad program in Rome, Italy.

Dr. Randy Roig is a resident of New Orleans and graduate of LSU Medical School.  He is presently practicing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at River Oaks Hospital in Hammond. Randy has served on numerous medical boards.

Brian Weimer is a native of southern Louisiana with a commitment to quality education for all students of New Orleans.  Graduating from LSU law school, Brian is presently practicing law as a legal adviser for Tulane University’s Research Compliance Office.
