October 19, 2016 -- Folk-rock musician Graham Nash, actress Alfre Woodard and NY Times columnist David Brooks were on hand to help officially launch ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron Academy's Turnaround Arts program. DTA joins ReNEW McDonogh City Park Academy and ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy as the only Turnaround Arts schools in New Orleans.
September 30, 2016 -- Colleen Mackay, who assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at ReNEW Schools in January, announced plans to step down from the position after completion of the 2016-2017 school year. Mackay will be moving out-of-state to be with her family, following a successful tenure with the charter network since 2009. The ReNEW Board of Directors is launching a search to find her replacement via national firm, Bellwether Education Partners.
September 15, 2016 -- ReNEW Accelerated High School and Dolores T. Aaron Academy are taking part in 'Healthy Cities New Orleans', a partnership by Morgan Stanley and Second Harvest Food Bank. September 12, 2016 -- Tulane University launched a study to find the best ways to meet the needs of trauma-exposed children in the city.
Project leaders selected six schools to participate, including three from the ReNEW network: ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy, ReNEW SciTech Academy and ReNEW Schaumburg.
September 11, 2016 -- A Second Harvest Food Bank & Morgan Stanley partnership offers health programs to benefit ReNEW Accelerated High School students and their families.
