David Batiste Celebrates His Birthday "Keeping the children in mind, providing what's best for the kids. And you can see the results of that. So this was like being in heaven," David Batiste said, celebrating his 65th birthday at Batiste Cultural Arts Academy in October. |

From NPR: Alfre Woodard Teaching Acting At Batiste Academy 
Alfre Woodard visited ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy again this week as part of the National Arts Grant from the President's Committee. One of just eight schools in the nation to receive the award, RCAA is integrating arts programs into an academically rigorous curriculum. Woodard will teach students from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade about using acting to enhance their overall education. The program will extend over two years. NPR reports.
